Description
What type of wine it is
Agrapart's Champagne Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature Avizoise is an extraordinary expression of pure Chardonnay. This Grand Cru Champagne stands out for its structured and complex profile, offering a rich and enveloping tasting experience. On the palate, it displays remarkable body and excellent structure, balanced by a vibrant acidity and a savoury finish of exceptional persistence. Its fine bubbles and radiant golden yellow colour anticipate a broad bouquet with hints of ripe yellow fruit, hazelnut, pastry and clear chalky nuances. This Blanc de Blancs is ideal for those seeking a wine of great character and depth, perfect for accompanying special moments with elegance.
Where it comes from
Hailing from the renowned Champagne region, this wine is born in Avize, specifically in the famous lieux-dits of Les Robarts and Les Gros Yeux. Unlike other vineyards situated at higher altitudes, these plots are located in the lower part of the slope, where the soil features a higher concentration of clay over a deep chalk substrate. This peculiar geological composition, combined with vines over fifty years old, gives the grapes an extraordinary aromatic richness and a naturally low yield. The unique microclimate of these parcels shapes a wine that faithfully reflects the identity of the terroir, harmonising density and volume with a vibrant energy—an authentic and uncompromising expression of the complexity of Avize.
How it is produced
The production of this champagne strictly follows the Traditional Method, embodying the artisanal philosophy of the Récoltant Manipulant. Vinification and ageing take place entirely in second-fill barrels, using exclusively indigenous yeasts to trigger a spontaneous malolactic fermentation. In full respect of the raw material, the wine undergoes no fining or filtration. After bottling (tirage), it rests on the lees for about five years. Finally, it is bottled without any added dosage, presenting itself as a pure and unadulterated Brut Nature, capable of recounting the long and careful creation process with technical precision and dedication.
History and curiosities
The history of this champagne is closely linked to two historic lieux-dits of the region, Les Robarts and Les Gros Yeux, located in Avize. Unlike other vineyards in the area, these old vines, over fifty years old, grow at the bottom of the hill, where the clay is deeper over the chalky substrate. This particular position gives the Blanc de Blancs a remarkable aromatic richness. The Recoltant manipulant philosophy is expressed in an artisanal way without filtration and with indigenous yeasts, faithfully respecting the characteristics of the original terroir.
